ABOUT

Join us for a special top-secret showing of comedian Charlie George’s new Edinburgh show ‘Burning Down the House’.

CHARLIE GEORGE

Charlie George has laughter on lockdown. An award-winning comedian & writer, Charlie’s last visit to Bristol saw her sell out the main house of Bristol Old Vic for Pride.

This year Charlie’s limbering up for a run at Edinburgh Festival, and we’ve tempted her back to Bristol to road-test her hot new show “Burning Down the House”.

“hilarious and no messin’” BBC

LBTQ+ New Comedian of the Year (2019), Funny Women Runner-Up and Leicester Square New Comedian of the Year, Charlie has performed stand-up on BBC Asian Network, BBC’s No Country for Women Podcast, Comedy Central (Rhod Gilbert’s Growing Pains) & ITV’s Stand Up Sketch Show.

A whip-smart writer, Charlie was handselected to write with Charlie Booker on Cunk & Other Humans & the BAFTA Nominated AntiViral Wipe. She’s written for 8 out of 10 cats, The Now Show, Have I Got News for Your & Joe Lycett’s Got Your Back.

Such is the demand for her words, that Penguin selected her from 3,700 writers to pen her first book ‘Door to Door’ about her experiences being raised Jehovah’s Witness & ending up as a homeless teen for leaving her family home. She was the host of an Audible original podcast series exploring evidence-based solutions to improving wellbeing & mental health with anthropologist Mary-Ann Ochota called Happiness & How to Get It. Because her preferred title ‘Despair & how to release its death grip,’ wasn’t “a viable option.”

Join us to for a special evening with Charlie George & help gild the set.
